    Audio Popping

Hello this is the first time I've captured a big project on my new system and I'm getting an occasional pop on the sound with a split second of audio missing (no video disturbance) I've had pops before but they've always been random and if I replayed the section it would be ok, but this is different it always pops in the same places so I suspect it's during capture? I've re-checked playback of the tape in the camera and it seems ok, normally with tape drop out there's also a visible sign also, to my way of thinking? Anyone any ideas please?

    Re: Audio Popping

Are you capturing through BOB? Its been suggested in the past to disconnect BOB during capture and to use the MoBo firewire port rather than BOB's port. If you do not have a firewire port on the MoBo, I'd recommend that you remove all USB devices during capture  PS 2 mice and keyboards are preferred in this case. Some fancy mice utilities soak up a ton of resources.

The usual software cautions, A/V off, and any active firewall. I do not normally enable any network devices, only on during program activation times..

Thanks John, no I don't have BOB I use firewire, there is an external USB drive connected but not being written to, no A/V, firewall is off. Do you think the problem is due to interuptions during capture then?

Yeah, possibly even disk indexing. Really hard to track these sort of intermittent things.

I've had this sort of problem as well. If it's essential, I recapture. It might be worth recapturing a clip at that point anyway to see if there's something Liquid doesn't like about the original.

An update on my problem, I also found that in other places the video was breaking up also for a split second so I installed 'End it All' to shut down programs and disabled indexing, recaptured the tape, result perfect.

It really can be frustrating, having to run down all these possibilities. At least you found your culprit.
