Studio 11.1 Plus does not recognize blank DVDs

I am having a very frustrating problem with Studio 11.1 Plus in that it will get into a mode where it does not recognize blank DVDs.  I am running Studio 11.1.2.5231 Plus and have edited and rendered to my HD numerous (over 20) projects to burn onto DVDs.  The problem is that now that I am starting to burn these to DVDs I may get one or two written and then Studio will start to complain about the blank DVDs I install by ejecting the DVD writer tray and giving me the message "Please insert a blank or re-writeable DVD".  I get this message when I install the blank DVD and then click the "Create Disc" button in the Make Movie tab.  When this happens it will not accept any DVD and I have to reboot my computer before I can continue.  After rebooting the computer, Studio will recognize the DVDs it previously rejected and will successfully burn them.  Then it will work for a couple of more DVDs and give me an error.  I was not having a problem when I was using my old stock of 4X DVDs but I have since run out of those and are now using 16X.  I have tried DVDs from several different manufacturers and they all behave the same.  I have 2 DVD burners in my computer and both are 16X capable.  This problem happens with both of them.  I do not have a problem with other programs I use to burn DVDs.

Also I noticed that in the make disk settings the Write Speed dropdown will change between "Auto - Low - Med - High" and "4X - 8X"  What's with that?  Also selecting any of the options makes no difference to the above problem.

My computer is plenty fast enough and has enough memory for Studio.  Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

I expect you did a "Typical" rather than "Custom" S11 Install & erroneously Installed InstanrDVD Recorder, which can affect you DVD-RW Drive & DVD related Probs. Go to; ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS & Remove(Uninstall) it.

    Anyone-else?

I'd check for Instant DVD Recorder, uninstall it if its there. If that doesn't fix it. I'd run a safe clean boot and attempt to burn again.
