            Hi Everyone

 

            I am new to making home movies for the most part and only used Windows Movie Maker when I was trying to learn and really am clueless to all the video and audio options just for starters and the rest goes without saying.

 

            After months of looking, researching and reading reviews and trying what I could on a trial basis I decided on Pinnacle and just recently purchased Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 12 and for the most part really loving it.

          

            My questions are, is the only option(s) for any additional effects, sounds, DVD menu templates, etc. the purchase option ones offered with the basic ones provided with Pinnacle Studio?

            (Yes, I said I did a lot of looking and research and at the time I was trying the trial I thought the links were to more included online enhancements, like I had seen with Adobe and some others and did not realize they were all locked with the purchase option, I was expecting some however, just not everything)

 

            In one of the online reviews I read for Pinnacle Studio 12, the person praised the abundance of user made DVD menu templates that were free, is this true and if so are they in the forums here or where I have not found them?

 

            If they are available some where will that location explain how to use them or is it just a matter of putting them in a certain directory for Pinnacle Studio to see them?

 

            I hope these questions are not to off the wall or odd, if it is nothing more to be had and the purchase option is it then I will just have to wait until after the end of the year before I can consider any additional purchases. In any case I am glad to have a decent program to make my home movies with.

 

            Any replies or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Users can make their own menus, which they can use at no added cost.  I've not heard of any trafficking of use-made menus.  This might be possible, in the form of project files with the menus, but I've not heard of this ever occuring.  Actually, I've never used a single one of the pre-made menu templates offered with Studio.  Some are cute, but I find it more challenging and interesting to make my own.  It would never occur to me to buy any additional ones, although these can be purchased from Pinnacle. if you go to the menu template view section, you should be a able to see the ones that came with your existing purchase.

Maybe you already have some effects you need, without being aware.  Exactly what do you want to achieve.  Do you have Plus or Ultimate?

The Declic website provides some links to free effects or plug-ins some people made for Studio over the years.

I'm a rookie too, and just recently purchased S12 Ultimate as well.  It took me a little while to figure this out, so hopefully, it's the same problem that you're having, and this will help.

 My installation package contained a number of add ons that when I clicked on, took me to a purchase screen.  I had read the advertising material, and thought, "Wait a minute.. these were supposed to be included with Ultimate!!! ???"...   I did a little more digging and found that I had activation keys 'buried' in the documentation.  There were a total of about 6 of them if I recall correctly.  (My package included the Winter disc ).  But the keys unlocked many of the addons, i.e. Boris Graffitti, ProDAD, and VitaScene..    Guessing (hoping) that's what's happened to you as well.  I seem to remember a text file that the online documentation pointed to that contained those keys...

 I am just experimenting now with my new S12 ultimate and trying to learn the ropes so I can make a decent Family movie out of tons of VHS and DV material i have piled up.

I will look into all of the above.
