It is not that bad first you have to use Canons editing software that comes with the camcorder and then ftom that software you can get V12 on the editing mode and edit and save on Pinnacle. The software that comes with Canon Is the Image Mixer version 3, if I recall.

It is not that bad first have to use Canons software called Image mixer version 3 to capture then with V12 you open it  up and then edit with it and save it on V12.

Thanks for the reply Ralph. Are you using H DEF and at what bitrate?

When editing, do you first convert to MPEG or do you edit in AVCHD ?

What computer are you using ?

Re: Canon HG20/21 and V12, how goes it?

I'm trying at the minute, and find S12 somewhat frustrating, as it won;t see the camera's HDD, and when the files are imported, using the canon software (which is poor), I can;t batch import it. I have like 6 hours of footage that I need to import, and file by file is a long, long job. The camera itself doesn't show up at all in the capture tab, and I can;t navigate to a folder on anything other than the C drive in the main editing window. I keep my files off the C drive for safety. Unless I'm missing something, not very well thought out.

I own the canon HG10 and the Canon HG21....I always move my footage off my HG10 and HG21 directly to one of my Hds, I do not use the canon software to do this, I simply drag the stream files straight to one of my  PCs HDs , or in the case of my HG21 which has a SDHC card as well as a HD, I just plug the card into my PC and drag them to my Hd as well...Pinnacle 12.1 has performed flawless for me with the AVCHD footage from both camcorders, I just downloaded and installed Studio 14, should work great as well...I have made several Blu-ray discs with 12.1 as well as AVCHD discs.....

I have the HG 20.  Like warriorking, I drag the files from the Canon folder to my computer.  I couldn't get the Canon software to work.  I just create a folder on my hard drive and dump the files in there.  I have had no issues working with AVCHD footage in 12.  Testing 14 now.  I have not burned any Blu Ray discs.  I have mainly been uploading clips to my facebook account.

    Gotte:
and I can;t navigate to a folder on anything other than the C drive in the main editing window.

I use S11 but S12 is probably similar.

To get to a different drive in the edit window of Studio, click on the second folder (the blank one without the up arrow) that is located to the right of the dropdown box.
