Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.

I'm using a Dell XPS with Intels i7 Quad Core 920 processor. 4 gig memory,Vista Home Premium.  Have ATI Radeon HD 3650 display adaptor. 1st Monitor is hdmi convertd to dvi and 2nd monitor is dvi to analog. DVD burner is TSST corp DVD+-RW TS-H653F.

As soon as I click Disc in Make Movie options it blue screens with 0x0000003B msg.  If I open Studio 12 Ultimate, to new project, add 1 clip or not, then go to setup, choose disc or DVD, it blue screens. I can upload to yahoo video, I can create file. I cannot attempt to make a DVD.

I have updated the drivers for the video card, i have flashed the burner with the latest file, I have ran the repair for Studio Install. I have uninstalled Studio and re-installed.

At the mement I am having to create an mpeg-2 file then use windows movie maker to get by. No operational issues when I used Studio on my old pc, 2.5Ghz, 512 ram, XP other than pegging out the processor.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.

Check to see if you have 'instant DVD' installed. It came with Studio. If you do, go to add/remove programs and remove this one. It has caused a lot of problems for many people.

Don, I hope you don't mind me adding this: Smile

Look for Startup programs and Services that controls the DVD drive like neroscout, Roxio plugins, InCD, Starwind DVD, Lightscribe related programs and AVS.

My bet is that a startup Dell application maybe causing the an incompatibility issue somewhere. Your best place to look is at the MSConfig.

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.

Still no good. Removed cyberlink power dvd from system. removed roxio creator from system. Still blue screens when trying to make dvd or even going into setup/disk.

Windows Vista Home Premium has a native program called Windows DVD Maker which I can't seem to find a way to remove/uninstall or disable.

Studio 12/U will import a DVD title but still will not start the make dvd process without out Blue Screening.

Have also uninstalled the DVD burner, same result when going to setup/disk=bluescreen. Removed several other services to no avail.

I have a DEll 730x with similar components and OS. I get black screen, non-recoverable error.

I experienced this only on a larger project burning in standard definition. I've not changed/turned off Roxio, Power DVD etc. We have edited and burned smaller (under 3gb) HD projects with no problems using the "new" 1.02 bios for the 730x.

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.

Thanks a bunch, I'll look for a bios update for the MOBO??

I have turned everything off that could be turned off and I even tried to access Create Disc while booted in safe mode and blue screened. Seems odd I can capture video from DVD but can't create or even go to setup/disc without blue screening. Suspected video possibly but would rather update the bios than replace the vid card just to see if that helps.

    Thanks again.

A chipset driver update maybe worth a try.

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.

I have a similar 435T configuration and i've updated all my drivers including the chipset and it still doesn't work.  It seems there are many Dell 435T users with this problem so I'm guessing its some sort of compatibility issue.  Many other users have updated their drivers and have tried all the potential solutions to no avail.  HELP!!!!

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.

I also have the Dell 435T. I am experiencing the same blue screen immediately upon selecting the "make disc" button. I have talked with tech support for 90 minutes and worked on different things by email through the Step 2 tech support with nothing getting the program to run right and burn a dvd. All I could get out of Step 2 support was that there is some reason that the program is not configuring itself correctly during installation but there have been no solutions for it. I like Studio 12 but it's useless for me to render the movie and then to have to burn it with a different program.

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.

Bios on mobo is already at A09, current download from Dell is A07 (as of 2 weeks ago).

    Chipset up to date.

Is it only Vista Home Premium that has a problem? Is there a 435 Dell with a different OS that actually works?

Thanks for the info Daninvan and kak58.

Are your DVD drives SATA drivers?

Can you remove the drive physically and then try going to Make Movie > Disc?

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.

    My BIOS is A07

    Vista Home Premium

All drivers and chipset drivers current with the drivers on Dell Support

    PC delivered on 4/24

DVD Burner is PLDS DVD+-RW DH-16A6S and has not been physically removed to try to burn movie

Roxio Creator DE was also removed at the very beginning of the problem troubleshooting

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.

I have disabled the DVD burner to no avail.

Mine has the TSST corp DVD+-RW TS-H635F

Will check into disconnecting it, have already changed to a different drive letter to see if it altered anything which it didn't. Still leaning towards switching away from the Home version since no one has chimed in with problems on that OS iirc.

If removing the drive physically still causes BSOD, I hope somebody here knows how to use this.

Instead of physically removing it, disable it from your device manager. Then reboot and try to navigate to make movie/make disc.

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.

It doesn't matter if I disable the DVD Burner or not to make a movie. The software is installing itself as if there is no DVD Burner present at all. The following comes from Tech Support:

"Are you getting any error message or just get the blue screen immediately after clicking "Create Disc"? Can you please try to create a disc content and see if you will get the same result. To do this, go to Make Movie > Settings > Burn Options > select Create Disc Content but Don't Burn > click OK > click Create Image and save it in your Desktop so to easily locate the disc content."

I can go to "Make Movie" and "Settings" but from there I can't go anywhere else. I have no burn options available to me.

    Also from Tech Support:

"If Studio causes the crash right after you click Make Disc then this tells us there is a problem with the configuration of the software. First, I would like you to create a new user account with Admin rights in Windows Vista. Launch Studio in the new user account then try to create a test project using the sample video, you may find the ourbackyardcircus.mpg video in t he Public folders. Try to create a disc content out of this test project. If same problem happens, I would like you to uninstall and reinstall Studio by following the steps from the link below. Use the new user account for uninstalling and reinstalling. Please follow Section 2 and use RegDelete for Studio 11.

Nothing works. Maybe someone else can try this and see if it works for them. There has to be some program running on the 435T to cause this. I am running Norton Internet Security by the way. Studio 12 is the only program I have had trouble with getting it to run as it's supposed too.

I disabled the drive through device manager, shut down and restarted the PC. Started Studio 12 and tried movie/make disc and got the BSOD again.

I'm pretty sure that the program is not configuring correctly upon installation like Level 2 support said. There has to be something running on the Dell 435T that is causing a conflict between the PC and Studio 12 as this is also reported on the Dell forums as a problem with no solution. It's not the burner as my PLDS is different than the TSST that Crutch has. Maybe something with the SATA controller? I'm at wits end trying to get this to work as I have over 52 hours of home videos on a hard drive waiting to be rendered and burned. Anyone else have anything to add?

So the moment you click on the Make Movie tab the BSOD comes up? No chance for you to render your project to a DVD ISO?

I can click on the Make Movie tab with no problems and create a file to my hard drive under the "File " option. As soon as the "Disc" option is chosen on the Make Movie tab or under the setup menu, the program immediately blue screens, so I have no chance to burn a DVD ISO -- only to create a media file on my hard drive.

If you have Nero, the chances are you also have NeroVision Express. If yes, Render your Project to File DV-AVI, Drop that into NeroVision & go straight to Burn - Job done. You won't have any studio Menus though, but you can create reasonable ones in Nero.

ADDED - Also have a look at my Post HERE re: BSOD & look at the OP's Link Re; his BSOD. Is that what you are seeing? IE; BSOD Stop Error Message, accompanied by Physical Memory Dump.
