Question to JJN:
The Nero package has many parts, Its only the DVD burning function that I use.
I use Studio's DVD creation option "Create Disc content but don't burn" to make a Video_TS folder that contains the DVD image. At this point I can use any DVD player software to check for problems.
I then use Nero Burning Rom and start a new Video-DVD. I drag the contents of the Video_TS that was created by Studio into the Video_TS folder within the the Nero application. I select the options I require with Nero Burning ROM (slow burning speed, verify when done, use bit setting) and then burn the DVD in Nero.
The DVD appears to function exactly as it would if made with Studio, "quality" being a function of the bitrate used to create the image in Studio. All Nero does is take over the last stage - writing Studio's files to DVD. I use Nero for the aformentioned reasons and because there was a time with my prevoius burner, Studio 9 and Verbatium discs where I struggled to make DVDs that didn't skip. Using Nero didn't solve the issue, but it's better error messages pointed the finger at first the media and then the burner.
