Re: DVD Space Available incorrect. Quality not optimum

Has a solution been found to this problem.  I have had the same problem in the past with Studio 10 and now I am having it with studio 12 ultimate.  With studio 10 after multiple software installs and drive removals from device manager and I think even some registry editing I finally got it corrected.  It was a while ago and I cannot remember exactly what the final solution was.  I have two NEC drives (ND-2500 & ND-3520)  Both have the same issue.  I just opened studio instant disc and it also shows my DVD capacity as 700mb, but after dragging 4G of files to the project it then recognized and burned correctly.  I just purchased my 12 upgrade a few weeks ago and made 1 disc and now it does not recogize the capacity correctly.  I have not installed any other software since then.  Hopefully this info can help with solve the issue

Ok, so I was just messing with this again and found that if I put a DL DVD into my drive and select the appropriate setting under setup it recognizes it correctly.  If I then put a 4.7G DVD into the drive and then select the appropriate settings in setup it recognizes the 4.7G disc correctly 1 time and will burn a disc which I am doing as I type this.  Under setup it always recognizes the disc correctly even though under the make a disc tab on the main screen it says it is 700mb.

Thanks for providing us an update regarding this. I have not found a clear cut solution to this yet. In fact yours was the first.

Something else I can add is that when I insert the DL disc into the the drive it allows both drives to recognize a standard DVD.  Kinda weird, but definitely sounds like a software conflict.

Thank you for the update. I am still in the process of looking at the other similar cases. I will finalize this and see if it belongs to the other threads of the same nature.

Blu-ray Disk Space Available Incorrect + Quality Not Optimum

Blu-ray Disk Space Available Incorrect + Quality Not Optimum:

I recently purchased a Plextor Blu-ray Disk burner that included Cyber-Link Blu-ray Disk Suite, a software bundle that allows me to burn content to Blu-ray Disks. After installing the Plextor Blu-ray burner, I also installed the Cyber-Link software. I then inserted a Blu-ray disk into the Plextor drive and formatted the disk using Instaburn, an application which was installed on my computer when I installed Cyber-Link Blu-ray Disk Suite. At the final stage of the formating process, Instaburn asked me if I would like to complete the formatting despite their disclaimer. Their disclaimer stated that by using Instaburn to format the disk, that other writing software would not be able to write to the disk. I then clicked "OK" and by doing so I accepted that I might have issues burning content to the disk if I choose not to use the Instaburn software.

I then purchased and installed Pinnacle Studio 14 Ultimate and proceeded to make a film. After finishing the editing portion of the film making process I then proceeded to the "Make Movie" tab to burn my movie to Blu-Ray disk, thereby completing the final step of the film making process. After selecting the disk type as Blu-ray, Pinnacle claims that I have zero space available on my Blu-ray disk to burn to, despite the software recognizing the existence and space capability of the disk. Studio 14 Ultimate has confirmed for the me that it recognizes my Blu-ray burner and the size the disk that is currently inserted into the drive because each time I select the "Settings" button the software tells me this. A screen shot illustrates this:

Can anyone please explain why Studio 14 Ultimate is not recognizing the size of Blu-ray disk when I attempt to burn the movie?

Can Studio 14 Ultimate format Blu-ray disks so that I don't have to use the Instaburn software?

    Thanks for the help.

Studio detects that you have a BD disc on the drive. But part of the problem is the way its been formatted. Instaburn may have something to do with it.

    Anyone.

I think I may need to uninstall Instaburn. Does Pinnacle Studio 14 Ultimate have its own Blu-ray disk formatting function?

Re: Blu-ray Disk Space Available Incorrect + Quality Not Optimum

After finishing editing my movie last night I proceeded to step three (which in Studio Ultimate 14 is "Make Movie") and began to burn my film to Blu-ray disk. When I woke this morning and checked my computer, Studio Ultimate 14 reported an error and stated that the burning process failed. Here is screen shot of what Studio Ultimate 14 error:

    http://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff290/ratinoff/Pinnacle%20Studio%2014%20Ultimate%20Questions/BurnError.jpg?t=1265410519

Also notice that Studio Ultimate 14 reports that I can only burn at 63% max quality, which makes no sense since I should in theory be able to burn at max quality.

Has anyone ever encountered this error before?  Has anyone ever tried to burn to a non-formated disk and receive this error? Has anyone ever encountered an issue with not being able to burn at max quality?
