    Out of disk space

OK,  I just got done fixing the "Export Error: Real TIme" by installing the latest patch (12.1.3.6605) for this short movie (< 9 minutes).  I set the settings to create DVD image only and do not burn DVD(VideoTS).  It went complelty though and it was almost done writing the image to disk and the I got a low disk space error

The export has been stopped because " is almost full(<1MB free disk space)!'

Several things here, the error message messed up printing out which drive. It just prints out a single quote for the name.  The second is I have almost 13 G Free on my target drive out of 465G.  So I tried doing it again and hit create disk and pointed my target to a disk with 249G out of 279G free.  Same error!  Now the interesting part, I went and looked at the target directories in both the above cases and the movie was there and they played correctly!  So this error check is being done after the movie was finished.  Any ideas on why I am getting these errors?

I am running XP on a dual CoreDuo, 2 Gig of Ram, 4 drives.  I have Studio 12 and Liquid on the same machine.

Where are you aux files located? Setup options/project preferences/folder for auxilary files

And how much space do you have free on your C drive? I'm assuming plenty, or you would be having other issues.

I wonder if this is a Studio/Liquid thing. You might want to ask on that section of the forum, as a number of liquid users have installed S12 for it's bluray abilities.

Have you tried moving it elsewhere?

I remember that one of the previous versions of Studio (9 I think...) would choke during "make disc" operations if the path length to all the auxiliary file folders was too long. So if such a bug was also biting in S10/11/12, with the auxiliary tiles in their default place projects with long names might fail.

I changed my default auxiliary files folder back then as a workaround, and have stuck with it ever since. So for Studio 12 I use D:\Studio 12\Data\Render (having the folder in that place also gets my auxiliary files away from my system disk so I don't have to clean and defragment it as often).

    Regards,
    Richard

    Re: Out of disk space

I have a couple hundred gigs left on C:\.  I will try moving my render files to a shorter path.  Since this is the default path, I am suprised that this would cause an issue, but I will try it anyway.  After helping my wife do her first prject using 12 Ultimate, I am having flash backs of the buggy version 8 and 9.  The reviews I have read say 11 was clean and 12 was too.  I am not doing anything weird here...Just basic begineer stuff.

Try moving your aux files folder to the main root c:\. I'll standby for your results.

    Re: Out of disk space

For what it's worth, I just received the same error under similar circumstances.

The export has been stopped because " is almost full (<1 MB free disk space)!

    24.8GB free on a 500GB SATA2 drive.
    Aux files are at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Studio 12\Data.
The avi file is on a RAID5 2TB volume with > 1.2 TB free.

The video was a 7 minute 20 second avi with "Special Events - Wedding 1 Main.dtl" as a menu and simple 10 second "dissolve" transitions between clips.

The computer is a relatively fresh complete reload (5 weeks) with XP Pro and Studio 12.1.3.6605. This is the second time I have received this error on this machine, but I didn't keep detailed notes on the previous instance - I thought it was a fluke. It is an annoyance rather than a problem at this point because just as Kenneth_L writes, it created the content and burned the DVD successfully. This is the second time it has happened on this machine,I know it sounds crazy, but my first thought was that it had gone out to the writer as soon as the DVD was finalized and saw no space on the disc.....and promptly told me so.
