    Copying a transition effect

Is it possible to save and copy a transition effect (2D editor) to be able to use this effect

on the next or other scenes likewise without having the need to go into details of

each scene that needs the likewise effect transition?

    Re: Copying a transition effect

Right click on the effect you want to reuse, click on copy, then go to a rack and right click and paste the FX.

    Re: Copying a transition effect

For some reason I can copy, but not paste. Paste is not highlighted,

but light grey (deactivated). Any idea what could have caused that?

    Re: Copying a transition effect

You can't paste into an effects library rack. Make a new rack and paste into that.

I have many FX and filters to the FX tab so I am picking from there, fast and easy.

    Hey LewS and Sverkalo,

thanks for your quick help!!  It seems that I have to reinstall Liquid again.
Everything seems to work fine except for the mentioned problem...
The "paste" option is still "grey", deactivated...

You guys have a pleasant weekend, thanks again!!!

    Re: Copying a transition effect

Could you list step by step exactly what you are doing? I doubt this has to do with your Liquid install.

I think he is not creating the rack he should.

    Re: Copying a transition effect

Yes, we did create an extra rack named: FX.  But that stays empty, as the past button stays inactive.

As soon as this project is done, we'll reinstall and test it again. We did have a crash sometime ago, and this may have caused some unusual probs. Thanx again guys!

    Re: Copying a transition effect

    1. Point to a transition on the timeline.

    2. Right click and select copy

    3. Click in any rack you have created.

    4. Right click and click paste

Is this what you are doing??

    Sverkalo

Hey, how did you add effects to the FX tab as your screenshot shows?

(I'm not talking about creating a rack called FX and pasting there - it appears from your screenshot that you have added effects to the Liquid Tab)

    Re: Copying a transition effect

You should have the following tabs in your Project bins

    ALL

    CLIPS

    FX

    LIBRARY

    MEDIA

If you do not see these click you mouse on the Project tab below your desktop or go to view and select Project only, you should now see all your folders....................Edd

    Re: Copying a transition effect

But this is the case. This is where you create Racks for FX's.

This is why that Tab is called FX.

    Re: Copying a transition effect

Nice, I'm never too old to learn!

But then, once created a new Rack and placed something in it, it is not accessible unless you have the same screen in which the FX stuff is shown.

Normally, I would drag the transition of filter from the Library.

Is there a way to put the FX stuff in the Library?

    Re: Copying a transition effect

This rack is to store all of your most used FX transitions etc. so you won't need to go back to the library.

    Re: Copying a transition effect

You cannot add effects to the library, only to a rack.

    Re: Copying a transition effect

    Well how about that.

You can add racks to it, and you can store your most commonly used FX. That is real handy!

    Thanks all.

    Re: Copying a transition effect

I don't agree. Of course, it works as designed, but I prefer the way Hollywood shows your own transitions in the same way as all the "standard" transitions are shown: in one "look".

My normal approach in Liquid is that I have the source and output window open. For the FX approach, I need to open a different look, loosing the source window.

It is a matter of personal preferences.

    Re: Copying a transition effect

Now after reinstalling Windows and Liquid it all works fine again, even the copying. We did have

some crash of Liquid a few months ago. It worked more or less, but not with those effects to save. So

now everything works fine, thanx for your help! Tomorrow we'll be able to find out if the Direct X10 patch works

as well with our HD2600 Card, some good news after all.

    Re: Copying a transition effect

Somewhere along the line I seem to be doing something wrong.

In my last Project I altered some effects and saved them in a new Rack Folder in the FX Tab. I'd like to be able to use them in a few other Projects, however when I start a new Project they don't show up in the FX Tab. Is there any way to save altered effects for future use after the Project that they were used in has been finished and deleted?

    Re: Copying a transition effect

You can't save effects across projects in the FX tab. Better to just save the project with the effects in a rack and open those racks in the new projects by right clicking on the ALL tab in the project browser to the left of the timeline. You can also save a project with all your modified effects in it and make it a Project Template.
