ultimate stick and comcast digital cable

I recently bought an ultimate stick in a hurry as I realised my UK plasma screen could not deal with NTSC and I have to use it as a monitor instead, the ultimate stick in my acer laptop seems to work fine with my co-ax output from the comcast digital cable box fed into it.

I'm wanting to get a desktop pc to perform the tv function and other media centre type duties and would take the stick over to that pc.  This should be fine to get one channel on the stick from the cable box and change channel with the comcast remote.

My question is, can the ultimate stick be used in place of the comcast digital box?

If not, can the stick imput to the PC be one of the wimdows media centre imputs?

I would realy like ot reduce the multiplying number of remote controls, to do this( if I leave the cable box in the loop) I think I need to leave the stick plugged in, dump it's remote, use comcast remote for channels, get a media centre remote for the pc, output sound to the dvd player and use my dvd remote for volume.

Sorry for the long first post but trying to describe what I'm looking to acheive to help anyone direct me with their replies.

    Thanks,  Alex JB.
