I bought the DS106j mainly for UPNP-AV reasons to use it with my Pinnacle Showcenter 200 (latest firmware from january). But I can't establish a connection to it.
I activated the Multimedia Service on the DS106j and uploaded some files to the music and video folder.
Everything works fine with my Pinnacle Soundbridge 1001 and Windows Media Player 11.
But I haven't yet established a connection on my Showcenter 200.

The IP of my DS106j is 192.168.178.37, so I added a new server to the Showcenter 200 with the following address: 192.168.178.37:5000
But the Showcenter tells me "Can't connect to server PC"

What am I doing wrong?

Hi, what is the UPNP media server software? I have noticed that the UPNP discovery of servers from the SC200 is limited, but it should recognise any UPNP server at startup - I would check you firewall settings and ensure the UPNP side is not restricted (try diabling it and test)

I have used Twonky with no problems with my SC200. (You can download a 30 day free trial on your nas a test it - your nas is not natively supported but it may be worth a go..?)

I have a SC200 and a Synology 106 & 207 and they work perfecttly together providing you update to the latest firmware for the SC200. It will not work if you are using the Media Manager software for connection

In general: is there an overview of devices that work with SC 200 and what software they use ?  By trial and error I have tried different software to use on my PC and ended with myiHome as being quite good (although web services do not work) and stable. However if I want a device independent of my PC to work as media server trial and error is rather expensive.
