Audio waveform after using channel effect

I have just used the channel audio effect to extract the two separate audio inputs from my main camera audio track - the left audio channel derives from an on camera microphone whilst the right audio channel derives from a radio microphone.

I first copied the audio file from the main camera and pasted a copy onto the voiceover track. I then applied the channel effect on this copy and the original to reveal both the right and left channels as mono tracks. This all went fine except that the audio waveforms for both new tracks are identical - one should be showing the camera microphone waveform and the copied one on the voiceover track should be showing the radiomicrophone waveform.

Is this a bug or should I be approaching this in a different way.

    Many thanks

    Andy

Re: Audio waveform after using channel effect

I assume you hear the correct result and it's only the waveforms that are wrong? I think this a bug in so much as Studio generates a waveform when you first load a file, but then doesn't regenerate the waveform when you add an effect.

For example, if I put some 1000hz test tone on the timeline and add a EQ effect that has a -24db 1000hz filter, the waveform isn't altered

Yes the audio is correct just the waveform visible is wrong in the copied audio track with the alternative channel tool effect applied. It isnt a big issue with me as the audio from both channels is recording the same event, however, the microphones were in different locations so subtle differences will exist. I guess there could be situations where major differences exist in which case it would be important to have the correct waveform visible.

    Many thanks
