Studio 10 - video playback kept flashing

I have just upgraded to Studio 10.  I  managed to open the video files which I downloaded from my JVC Everio camcorder.  I am not sure why all the shots are flashing continuously when I played back the videos (during editing stage).  I  also discovered  that even  the transition effects (in Studio 10) are  flashing  endlessly when  I  previewed.   This has never happened when I worked with Studio 9 and captured  the videos with dazzle.

I tried editing/playback,  the same shots using  Power Director software (provided by JVC).    I had no problems with the shots.

Pinnacle definately has more superior editing tools,  but I am frusted after investing money to upgrade,  that I am faced with a serious problem.

    Cannot anyone please advise?

Before the pro's can help you, they will need you to list your pc specs, especially your video card.  Also, did you mean you captured the video from your camera?  Help is just around the corner.

Re: Studio 10 - video playback kept flashing

    rstrong,

Thanks for the quick response.  You guessed correctly -  I am an amateur in this.

This is what I did -  I downloaded directly from my JVC camcorder to my laptop -   into the backup files (MOV),  with the USB cable provided by JVC.   I could  play/edit  with Power Cinema/Director,  and the visuals run perfectly.

I  could  open/edit the files,   which were  downloaded   (as mentioned above)  after upgrading to Studio 10.  My problem is the blinking  visuals.

It probably has to do with my PC,  but  sorry,  I  dont have the specs with me right now as the laptop is at my home.  Will provide the specs later.  But,  if it is the PC,  how come the playback  with Power Director was OK?

Also, check what version  S10 you have. You should be running 10.7 (XP) or 10.8 (Vista)

Studio makes more use of the Graphics card than most software, so chck you have the latest drivers.

Re: Studio 10 - video playback kept flashing

What version of Studio 10 Plus? Under Help/about it should say 10.x something

If it is 10.6 or lower go HERE and download and install the latest patch, 10.7

Next wee need to know what Graphics card you have, and if that has been upgraded to it's latest drivers Go the All Programs/Accesories/System tiolls/system information. Select the TOOLs tab and run the DirectX diagnostic Tool. Select Display and then copy all the info about your graphic Device and Drivers here. While you are there, try running the Direct Draw and Direct 3D tests.

Re: Studio 10 - video playback kept flashing

Thanks alot Jeff  Big SmileBig Smile It worked!  No more flashes after I downloaded Studio 10.7.   Pictures running beautifully!

I  opened the Accessories / system tools folder,   but could not find on the list  the Directx diagnostic tool to copy info on the graphic device, and to run the  Direct draw /Direct 3D,  as you suggested.

Can I bother you  on this? Thanks.

Re: Studio 10 - video playback kept flashing

    Good Big Smile

If it isn't broke , don't fix it, but if you do want to find DXDiag, you need to go one more step, I think

All Programs/Accesories/System tools/System information. That should open a program that has Tools as one of the tabs at the top, and in that you will find DXDIAGnostics. Probably Wink

Or: Start / Run & enter: dxdiag.
