    Help Please!

    Hi,

I've just purchased the Pinnacle Video Transfer and now I'm stuck. I've managed to connect my 360/PS3 up to it and record onto my hard drive but how can I do this and keep the image on the TV as well? The way I'm doing it at the moment is by blind recording.

What can I do/use to be able to still record and see the image on the TV?

    Thank You.

    - Shane

(P.S I'm in the United Kingdom)

    Welcome to the forum Smile

Does your TV have a Video output? Possibly a Scart socket?

Thank You for the welcome and quick reply Smile

I don't believe my TV does. I have a 42" LCD HDTV and it's made by Tevion [Model Number 30180] if that helps.

    Thanks Big Smile

    Re: Help Please!

I suggest you check the manual. I can't find that model on the Tevion importers site. Did it come from Aldi? If its THIS one is should have two scart sockets.

What sockets are on the back?

    Re: Help Please!

I think it might be possible that one of those scart sockets will have a video/audio out signal as well as an input - scarts are bidirectional.

You wuld need a scart plug to composite/audio OUT lead lead to test it. Sometimes the menu options will allow you to choose what is fed to the output, so have a browse through them.

The idea would be to feed your console to the TV, and record on the PVT via the scart output.

    Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean.

Currently I have my PS3/360 connected via HDMI cable. So where would I insert the Yellow/Red/White cables to?

    Thank You.

    Re: Help Please!

Are these the cables that came with the PVT? If you want to use those, plug one of THESE into the scart socket on the back of the TV and connect that to the PVT with the Phono R/W/Y cables.

What video mode are you playing your games in?

    Re: Help Please!

    Hi,

I've got it working sort of. I've done what you said and plugged it all in and it's working great. I've got an option called Ext-2 Out and on there I only have TV/DTV, EXT-1 (Sky Box) BAV, YPbPR Audio or PC Audio. I have no option to tell it to record from HMDI 1 or 2.

    Why is this?

    Thank You

    Re: Help Please!

HDMI is a digital signal - probably HiDef? - so I don't know if the PVT could record the signal. Your TV can't route the signal to a scart because it would need to downconvert HD to SD.

I presume you are having to play the games in a lower resolution than you would like?

    Re: Help Please!

    Hi,

Cheers for your help. I'll have to play the game through scart or Y/R/W cables.

One more thing, when I play it back after I've recorded it, it seems to have lines running across the screen.

What can I do about this?

If you could do a screenshot it might help someone recognise the problem

Does THIS THREAD give any help?

Does the console have the option to switch between Progressive and Interlaced?
