Pinnacle newbie needs help importing video files

Please help: I'm trying to import video files saved on my hard drive. Guess I must import them as media clips, but they are VOB files. Figure I must convert them to AVI files? If that is correct next step, please recommend AVI converter software that would best work with my Pinnacle product version: Pinnacle Liquid Edition Pro v. 5. Desperately need to move on with this project! Thanks in advance for your help.

AL 7 has the ability to import .vob files directly.

I don't remember anymore what 5 was capable of...

    Maybe someone else.

I don't remember details from version 5, but can you not save the timeline of your project as an AVI and work from that, without having to do an external conversion to AVI?

I use Cinematize to convert DVD's to AVI files.

Small money and it does a great job.
