How do I completely uninstall Avid Liquid 7?

    Hi all,

I need to reinstall Liquid as I need to enter new activation keys. I use Add/Remove Programs to do this, but when I go to reinstall the registration details are filled out with my previous information and it crashes during installation.

Tech support has instructed me to do the following in addition to using Add/Remove: delete all files folders with Avid, Liquid and Pixie in them, delete Temp and Prefetch folders in main Windows folder, then run a registry cleaner to remove what's left (I used ccleaner as well as actual registry cleaners for Liquid, Pinnacle and Hollywood FX).

Basically, after doing all this my registration is still pre-filled and the installation crashes during the plugin stage.

Can anyone help me? I have the Avid Liquid 7 AV/DV bundle which is specific to the Asian-Pacific region.

    Thanks, Mike

The PIXIE folder has the registration info, so what tech support is saying is correct. Are you rebooting after running reg cleaner?

Thanks for replying. Yes I rebooted after running the registry cleaner then attempted the installation disk as above. Do you know if it's possible to check the entries manually in registry editor to see where the problem could be?

Why do you have to enter new registration keys if you have not reinstalled XP?? What exactly are you trying to do?

Re: How do I completely uninstall Avid Liquid 7?

The orginal issue was simply that Liquid was in Demo mode without me realising, and the thirty days had long expired. The software was installed for me when I got this PC built and the program never prompted me for activation. When tech support took my case on the first thing they said there was a serial number and passport but no activation key. Since then I've tried in vain to completely remove all components so that I can reinstall.

See here. You should be able to generate a new activation key and input it into the system without having to remove the current install of Liquid.

Re: How do I completely uninstall Avid Liquid 7?

Thanks LewS, what you've provided is actually the first procedure I tried. I was advised by tech support that this would not work as the 30-day period had expired. Therefore, I uninstaled Liquid as above but now cannot reinstall because it crashes during the plugin stage. I have been advised it may be a problem with the registry causing this.

I would suggest you start with a clean install of XP at this point.

Just FYI, as of this morning, the Liquid activation server has been fixed and you can now activate Liquid during the install process when the Activate Now button appears assuming your system is online.
