    7.2.1 Update installation Problem

I am currently using version 7.2 (build 4296) on my system.  Windows Add/Delete Programs shows Avid Version 7.1 and 7.2 installed on the system.  I downloaded the patch to go to 7.2.1 and tried installation.  I get a message that says I must have ver 7.1 update installed before the 7.2 upgrade.  Then it tells me to upgrade to 7.1 and will not proceed.

I know that my system will run fine as is, and the "company position" is...if you don't have a problem with Direct x 10, don't install...but I may want to upgrade to DX10 and would like tp know why the 7.2.1 installer thinks I am not current.

    Re: 7.2.1 Update installation Problem

You seems to have done multiple installations of Liquid, you should only have used the full 7,2 install file and nothing else when installing Liquid, describe how you have been able to get two versions of Liquid in your windows add/delete programs

    Re: 7.2.1 Update installation Problem

I have been running this system for months like this.  How did it get that way?  I suppose I installed 7.2 without uninstalling 7.1.  Several months ago one of the moderators (I believe) said it was OK to have both versions loaded.  All I can say is, it has been working quite well since 7.2 was released (I installed it just weeks after it became avaliable).

    Re: 7.2.1 Update installation Problem

You have got uncorrect info Victor and have to make a new uninstall / install to not get into more trouble in the future, follow the pinned thread about troubleshooting and make an uninstall of both the apps and a new install of 7,2 from the full install file.

Be sure to have your projects folder on some other place that the default settings in the Programs / Liquid folder in case you wipe that folder.

    Re: 7.2.1 Update installation Problem

I downloaded the instructions and deleted all the Liquid, TDK and HFX files.  Ran regclean several times until it came up clean. Rebooted and inserted the 7.2 Full disk.  All goes well until it verifies that I have the old disk, but after inserting the 7.2 disk again it gives the message "COMP_-33.exe  Wrong Disk" and refuses to accept the 7.2 full disk.  The stupid Windows Media Player keeps trying to play the disk when I insert it, but I keep the SHIFT key pressed to override WMP.

What do I need to do to get over this hurdle??

    Re: 7.2.1 Update installation Problem

Read the troubleshooting thread on the first page of this forum. Download the full installer of 7.2 and use that instead of your install disc. Also, download the little patch mentioned there and use it as instructed. See if that works.

    Re: 7.2.1 Update installation Problem

The whole reason for reinstalling was in response to the above which stated that having 7.1 and 7.2 in the Add/Remove programs list was a big no-no.  I never did get the full 7.2 disk to install.  After many false starts today (6 hours of drugery) I finally got 7.1 to install, then added the 7.2 update.  Guess what?? Both 7.1 and 7.2 show in the Control Panel/ Add/Remove.  Wasted a whold day (and raised my blood pressure) all for nothing.  Right back where I started this morning.

Time for some relaxation. Better days are coming.

Snap.. wasted 6 hrs myself.. can't install even older version 7

I tried looking but can't find a remove application utility 'yet'.

It's frustrating having a working system and then suddenly won't even run despite uninstalling and  re-installing.

anyone know a a remove application utility fro LE7 or even what registry entries to delete?

    All best.. VicH

HELP! I posted this separately ..only looking here for tips on a way forward

Re: Snap.. wasted 6 hrs myself.. can't install even older version 7

There is a regcleaner which cleans the Liquid 7 registry items. Regdelete. Remove the software and run regdelete. First select Liquid and press clean. Then run it again. Select "user activation and registration data" and press clean again.
Reading the problems with the disc, it really looks like a damaged disc to me. So follow the instructions of Lew about using the Full 7.2 download to reinstall the application.

Re: Snap.. wasted 6 hrs myself.. can't install even older version 7

Latest update.  I downloaded the 7.2 complete file, uncompressed and burned to disk.  Same problem as before... I can't seem to get around inserting the 7.1 disk for verification, then resuming with the 7.2 disk.  So I installed 7.1, then the 7.2 update.  Also did the 7.2.1 update.  It seems to work but has some "funnies".   For instance, when using keyframes in the 2D editor,  even though I set the keyframes for "Linear", there is some "creep" in the image between keyframes.  If I switch to the keyframe view, the lines and keyframes do not show on the screen.  The scales are there, but there are no lines or keyframe markers.  After some period of time (or keystrokes) the lines and keyframes appear.

I considered reinstalling Liquid, but given that I have 7.2.1 on the machine, I don't know what to install.
