    burning to dvd

using studio 11, when I try to render a video and burn directly to disc I get a message that the media I am using may be incompatible with my burner and to insert compatible media. I can save the file to disk and then use another program to burn the file to the same disk. this has just recently started.  its not a huge problem just a little inconvenient.    thanks for any suggestions

If you did a "Typical" rather than "Custom Install" & inadvertently Installed Pinnacle's InstantDVD Recorder, uninstalling that from ADD/REM PROGS, might fix it.

Try creating the file, but don't burn. Then go back and burn from previous content.

Give the program time to recognize your disc before setting off the burn. Make sure you see your burner in the settings, and also make sure that you see the numbers (2X, 4X, 8X, ect) in the burn speed. If you see the words low, med, high, or auto, the disc has not been recognized yet.

Burning directly to disc has caused me some pain, but the two part process done slowly seems to work OK for me.

I would go for Safe mode burning rather than Burn directly to disc. Another tip to try is to turn off any direct to dvd burning utility running in the background. Try a clean boot to isolate the issue better.
