colour:If you have Nero, the chances are you also have NeroVision Express. If yes, Render your Project to File DV-AVI, Drop that into NeroVision & go straight to Burn - Job done. You won't have any studio Menus though, but you can create reasonable ones in Nero.
ADDED - Also have a look at my Post HERE re: BSOD & look at the OP's Link Re; his BSOD. Is that what you are seeing? IE; BSOD Stop Error Message, accompanied by Physical Memory Dump.
I don't have Nero so that's not an option for me right now. I have read the post you linked to and tried the items in your suggestions with no luck. My pre-BSOD looks like the OP's but I never have any lines after clicking Make Disc as the OP does. Mine goes straight from the program screen to the BSOD with the 3B stop error and the memory dump immediately with no lines or anything else.

anytime I select DISC...blue screen...crash . I have read the post you linked to and tried the items in your suggestions with no luck. Well, since there are now so many of these, looks to be exclusively a Dell/S12 prob. IMO, only Pinnacle can attempt to sort-it-out.

A long time-ago, a Poster who couldn't Burn with Studio, managed to Google (I think) to Download a Free or Trial Version of Nero 6 (I think) that had Nerovision (2 will do what I suggest). But there are various Versions of Nero 6 & not all have NeroVision. Apart from myself, Plemmens also Posted with some Info re: Nero 6 that helped the original Poster. Unfortunately that Thread's dead & buried by now.
Try Googling something like "Nero 6 Free Download".
If you can get a Free Copy of Nero 6 with NerovisionExpress 2 (or above), that would get you out of a temporary (I hope ) hole.

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.
colour,
Thanks for your help and suggestions. Like you, I also think it's a Dell/Studio 12 problem because of all of the complaints for the BSOD on the Dell forums also. When Level 2 support had me run diagnostics and send them the results, their official response to these results was that the software was not configuring itself correctly upon installation. I think that pretty much rules out any hardware problem with Dell but as far as software, who knows what is causing the problem. Thanks again for your help and to anyone else on here offering suggestions.

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.
Yes, as I have mentioned in another thread. This seems to be isolated to these specific Dell systems. I wish I had a similar system to test with. But all we can do for now is wait for QA's feedback about it. I will make a follow up today and see if there are any developments.
Have anyone had any luck making a Disc image via Windows' Safe Mode?

Marc P.: Have anyone had any luck making a Disc image via Windows' Safe Mode?
Level 2 support had me try that in safe mode, Marc, but it had the same results -- an immediate BSOD. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the quick update. That narrows down our further options, but limits it at the same time.

Anybody tried removing the DVD drive physically? Added: Can the Dell owners ask Dell if you have this on your PC? Nvidia Media Shield Drivers and if this driver can be disabled or removed: R206717

PCLEUSB2_fan:
The storage controller on my 435T is JMIcron JMB36X Controller. The R206717 driver is for the Realtek media card reader and can be disabled or removed but while leaving the media card reader inoperable. Vista's DVD burner and the DVD burner in Roxio both worked OK with this configuration.

Any takers on which idea -- physically removing the drive or disabling the media card reader?

Both By the I got news that QA purchased a similar system and are currently running tests on it as we speak.

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.
Just joined; not sure how to post. Same problem. Here's what I sent to Pinnacle/Avid support.
Normal
0
Computer: Dell Studio XPS 435T, Intel Core i7-920 2.67GHz, 9GB
RAM, Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, ATI Radeon HD4670 512MB RAM, PLDS
DVD+-RW DH-16A6S.
Background: Studio 12 has been patched with
StudioPatch12_1_3_6605a.exe for Vista 64. Studio 12 has been uninstalled and
re-installed. I also tried running Studio 12 under Windows XP compatibility
mode.
Problem: No matter, Studio 12 crashes the computer
with a “blue screen of death” and forces a reboot whenever “Make disc” is
accessed either under “Setup” or under “Make movie.”
I have used Studio since
Studio 7, but I’ll have to switch to another program if Pinnacle has no
solution

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.
I am also having the exact same problem with the BSOD using a Studio 12 plus, Dell 435T and with Vista Ultimate.
Any attempt to even reference a DVD in Studio causes a crash. But whats interesting is my Nero 7 works flawlessly!
Maybe Pinnacle can give Nero a little phone call and find out how its done 9 <grin>.
Of about 45 programs transferred from my older XP machine to the new Dell with Vista Ultimate... only Studio 12 and Cisco VPN didnt work.
I have to add that everything in studio 12 plus works except the DVD. So what I do is capture, edit and save the video to
an MP2 and burn it in Nero.
Sure hope Pinnacle comes up with a fix... I do like the way Studio edits videos.

Re: Blue Screen OD Studio 12 Ultimate.
In case you are checking this thread that I started, for your solution, Oliver H ??? solved the issue(In another thread) by disabeling the realtek USB card reader. This solved my problem. I can't say enough thanks for the solution Oliver!
Disable the Realtek USB 2.0 Card Reader under Universal Serial Bus controllers in Device Manager.

Thanks for updating this thread. We have documented this workaround for an FAQ to be published soon.
