    "Simulated" Time Lapse

This simulated time-lapse sequence was created by "cutting" the video into 1-second (30-frame) segments, selecting all the segments, and setting their length to 1 frame.

It was shot from the roof (deck) of Southwest Airlines Headquarters and begins with a segment at 6:00 a.m. as the airport and our Headquarters are waking up. Then, it switches to mid afternoon.

I thought it was interesting how the audio turned out.

Oh well ... I obviously have too much time on my hands Drinks

Nice technique. Did you split the original up into 30 sec chunks using scene detection or was it a labour of love?

30-second chunks would have been easy. This was 1-second chunks.

I wish I could say I thought of using scene detection, but I just used the wheel on my mouse and the Insert key.

But I just tried your suggestion on the raw video (1-1/2 hour file) and it locked up the computer when I tried to drag 5600+ clips to the timeline. I tried again with just a 30-minute segment and it appears to be locked up too.

Here's an undated version with music.

The 30-minute segment finally loaded to the timeline. Thanks for the tip. If I do this sort of thing again, I'll have a smarter method.

30 frames, 30 seconds - easy mistake Embarrassed

The music makes it more watchable, if that makes sense Smile

I think I'll try a few sunsets and passing clouds. Another excuse to buy a HD camera.....

I did this with another NLE and I also created the wmv with it to upload to youtube. It was shot on a Canon HV20 and I speeded up the hour long file 1000%  then speeded up that file another 500% so it compressed an hour clip to a few seconds. It took me all of a few munites to do the whole thing.

Well done all (I must admit the 50x speed solution sounds a lot easier)
