    menu editing "jump" problem

Okay, I've been ripping my hair out for two days trying to figure out if I've done something wrong or if what is happening to me is one of those fun, exciting "glitches" with the program.  I am using Studio 11 Plus with all the current updates.  I was so proud of myself because I had figured out how to make my own motion menus.  I took a clip of video, adding music and a little dream glow effect and then rendered it.  Now, my first question is, does it matter in which file type you render it?  I have tried in three different types (mpeg-2, mpeg-4, and most recently avi) and get the same problem.  Let me see if I can describe the problem.

First of all, I am working with a main menu and a sub menu (I made two different motion clips with music and such, one for each)

My main menu one has two buttons, along with the avi/mpeg-2/mpeg-4 file as a background, a "play movie" and a "scene selection".  The menu is 9.26 long.  My sub menu (the "scene selection" menu) has 10 chapters, 5 per page, with previous and next buttons and a main menu root button.  It is 21.10 long and also has an avi/mpeg-2/mpeg-4 movie as a background.

So far so good, I get both in there and working correctly and all is right with the world.  Then, I notice I misspelled one of my chapter titles in the sub menu.  So, I open up the menu editor to change my spelling mistake.  When I close the editor and check out my menu, it now has a small "jump" in the last two seconds of it.  I don't know how else to describe it, other than a skip or a jump, but that wasn't there when I created the avi file and wasn't there when I first dropped my menu in the timeline.  The skip is just one issue, as it has now shown up on the main menu as well because every time I edit the sub menu I have to go in and redo the chapter link on the main menu (figure this is a glitch that has been around for a while, not my main concern.)  So, I delete both menus and start over.  Now I've got them in there and spelled right and all is right with the world.  I go to render and it is rendering a 3rd page on the sub menu (the 3rd page is blank of course, except for the previous button and main menu button, because I only have 10 chapters.)  So, I redo the menus yet again--you see the vicious cycle.

At first I thought it might have something to do with the background rendering, so I turned off background rendering and discreet 5.1 playback, dumped my auxiliary files and tried again.  So, now I'm not working with background rendering and I dump my auxiliary files after everythin I do.  The same thing still happens, if I open the menu editor to edit any small thing, it puts a "jump" or skip in the last couple seconds, or even milliseconds of my menus.  Has anyone had this happen?  Any ideas as to why?  Or an idea on how to get rid of an unwanted 3rd page in a menu?  It seems like any little tweak to these menus is causing mass chaos and I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.  I had seen on other posts that it's sort of better to make your own menus because of the glitchy nature of the pre-installed ones and that's why I decided to give it a try!
