DVC 170 won't capture from Studio 9... any fix?

DVC 170 won't capture from Studio 9... any fix?

I can capture from studio 11, but when I try it from studio 9, everything seems fine until I stop capture, then instead of detecting scenes it just sits there and I find there is no mpg file on my hard drive.  If I have to I'll continue to use studio 11 just for capture, but I prefer 9 (it has worked much better for me) and would like to not HAVE to rely on 11 for capture.

Have to tried switching off scene detection (and doing it later if required)?

Of course, it could be that the drivers that come will 11 don't work properly with 9....

Yes, I did try disabling scene detection, it didn't help.  It is not even placing a file onto the hard drive.  But the preview comes in fine and SEEMS to be capturing, it's just that there is no file created.  Does anyone know how to get the drivers to work in Studio 9?

I have confirmed this and I too had some problems capturing with the DVC 170 with Studio 9. I recommend capturing with version 10 or higher.

That's what I was afraid of... I wish there were something to doctor this up. Version 10 was useless to me, I had to remove it.  Version 11 has some usefulness, but I can't get by on it alone, I still need Studio 9 in order to render a full dvd, Version 11 just hangs too much and is unreliable, even though my machine's specs should allow it to work.  I was going to get rid of it, but now that I "upgraded" my DVC from 150 to 170, I guess I have to keep 11 if only for capture!  UGH!  So close, but no cigar, on a do-it-all program for me!

Re: DVC 170 won't capture from Studio 9... any fix?

What about the AM capture utility that should have been installed in the Tools folder of both 9 and 11?

If that works, I think you could install a freeware version of it (or the one that came with 9) and at least remove 11 from your system.

As an aside, I do find render issues puzzling. My system is a lower spec version of yours - slower AMD CPU, 1Gb Ram, same video card same OS, and yet I only recall one failure rendering a DVD in 11, (except for the No Sound issue). That was some kind of export error message which was cured by deleting the aux files and starting over. S10 was a different matter - I  couldn't trust it. The only thing that I can suggest is that all the partions I run S11 on have been created from OS images that have never has S10 installed, and I don't run any anti-virus software (I don't use Outlook and do regular backups and scans instead)

I have tried using the DVC 170 on AMcap from Studio 9-11 and they all have the version 8.0 which could not capture. I also tried downloading the demo 9.x version which wouldn't work either. The best way to capture from this device is unfortunately though its bundle software or Studio 10 or above.

I believe that Dazzle DVC170 came out after the Studio 10 has been released,  Compatibility Issue on a previous program would be possible

btw : Have you Tried to reinstall Studio 9 ? ( are you' using the latest S9.4.3 Patch)

    Regards,

I AM using the latest patch, 9.4.3, but would rather not go to the trouble to re-install if it just seems like a shot in the dark.  I don't have much hope that doing so would suddenly enable it to capture.  It's not as if it isn't RECOGNIZING the device, it names it correctly as the DVC170 and does preview properly, it just isn't recording to the hard drive.

Re: DVC 170 won't capture from Studio 9... any fix?

I did all sorts of testing on my 1st reply and it does detect the DVC like it would, it even shows a capture preview and let you hear it too, When you stop it doesn't copy it anywhere on the hard drive. I have not tried exploring temp files for cached captures.
