What about the AM capture utility that should have been installed in the Tools folder of both 9 and 11?
If that works, I think you could install a freeware version of it (or the one that came with 9) and at least remove 11 from your system.
As an aside, I do find render issues puzzling. My system is a lower spec version of yours - slower AMD CPU, 1Gb Ram, same video card same OS, and yet I only recall one failure rendering a DVD in 11, (except for the No Sound issue). That was some kind of export error message which was cured by deleting the aux files and starting over. S10 was a different matter - I couldn't trust it. The only thing that I can suggest is that all the partions I run S11 on have been created from OS images that have never has S10 installed, and I don't run any anti-virus software (I don't use Outlook and do regular backups and scans instead)
